PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip compressor capable of surely conveying chips to a screw irrespective of a chip state, in a chip compressor having a hopper for accumulating chips, a screw for conveying the chips accumulated in the hopper and a compression chamber for compressing the chips at the conveyance destination and forming the block thereof. SOLUTION: A crusher having shearing and drawing functions is disposed between the hopper and the screw to improve the property to convey the chips. The equipment configuration and the control system of the chip compressor to control a motor on the basis of the change characteristics of a motor current for driving the crusher so as to prevent excessive bite of the chips are obtained.
