PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a friction material, keeping quality of the friction material, suppressing cost of the equipment to be introduced and decreasing time of a preheating step and a thermal compression molding step. SOLUTION: The method of producing friction material composed mainly of fibrous substrates, binders and fillers, comprises preheating the charged material in a mold by high frequency dielectric heating and then performing thermal compression molding.
