Titanium, vanadium, chromium, molybdenum or tungsten monocyclopentadienyl complexes (I) are new. Monocyclopentadienyl complexes of formula (I) are new. (Cp)(-Z-A)mM (I) Cp = a cyclopentadienyl system; Z = a -L(R1)(R2)- bridge between A and Cp; L = C or Si; R1 = 2-20C alkyl, 2-20C alkenyl, 6-20C aryl, (1-10C)alkyl(6-20C)aryl or SiR33, all optionally halo-substituted; R2 = H or 1-20C alkyl, 2-20C alkenyl, 6-20C aryl, (1-10C)alkyl(6-20C)aryl or SiR33, all optionally halo-substituted; R3 = H, 1-20C alkyl, 2-20C alkenyl, 6-20C aryl or (1-10C)alkyl(6-20C)aryl, or R3+R3 forms a 5- or 6-membered ring; A = (un)substituted or fused heteroaryl; M = Ti(III), V, Cr, Mo or W; and m = 1-3; alternatively R1+A or R2+A can form a 5- or 6-membered ring. Independent claims are also included for: (1) catalyst system for olefin polymerization, comprising (I) and optionally one or more supports, activators, other catalysts and/or Group 1, 2 or 13 metal compounds; (2) prepolymerized catalyst system comprising the catalyst system and one or more polymerized linear C2-C10 alkenes in a weight ratio of 1:0.1-1000; (3) production of polyolefins by (co)polymerizing olefins in the presence of the catalyst system; (4) a process (P1) for producing cyclopentadienyl system anions (VII); (5) a process (P2) for producing cyclopentadienyl systems (VIIa). |
