PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein, for example, it becomes impossible to know whether information has been recorded in an area shown by a specific address where the address information held by an optical disk becomes no longer readable correctly, in the case where address information has not been recorded correctly at the recording of address information on the optical disk or when the address information has been destroyed. SOLUTION: An optical disk device has a function of holding the presence or the absence of information recording by each area of a prescribed interval of the optical disk, and address information or information of purport that address information cannot be acquired, when the address information cannot be acquired, while associating them mutually. Since information to be held is information for each area of the prescribed interval, even if address information with which the presence or the absence of information recording is desired to be known is not held, whether the information has been recorded in an area of the specified address by pieces of address information, before and after which can be read out, can be known.
