1,209,971. Non-oxide glasses; coating with glass. RANK XEROX Ltd. 11 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 1616/68. Heading C1M. [Also in Divisions C7 and H1] A non-oxide glass which is used as the photoconductive insulating layer of a xerographic plate consists, by weight, of As 0À6-48À7% Sb 0À15-31% Se balance, at least 38À9%. The glass may be doped with a halogen (I, Cl or Br) in an amount of 10 p.p.m.-2% by weight. Plates are made by vapour deposition in vacuo of pre-formed glass on to cooled substrates held at 60-150‹ C. Suitable substrates are brass, Al, Au, Pt, steel, metallized paper, plastics or plastics coated with Al or Cu iodide, or glass coated with Cu iodide, Sn oxide or Au. The substrate may subsequently be dispensed with. The As-Sb-Se may form one of a number of layers, e.g. over a layer of vitreous Se or As-Se.
|
