PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk (an optical memory element) which can be stably reproduced and has high recording density. SOLUTION: In the optical disk, a pit arrangement of an information unit 5 is formed by combination of phase pits 4 disposed on an information track 2 and phase pits 3 formed on the periphery of the phase pits 4. Recording density can be heightened as compared with the case pit arrangement is formed by only the phase pits 3. The optical disk is provided with a pair of servo units 61 and 62 disposed so as to hold the information track 2 and tracking can be controlled by a sample servo method using reflected light from the servo units 61 and 62.
