<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat plate display device with the improved bending strength of a protective plate by forming a groove on its lower face. <P>SOLUTION: The device has a sealing substrate formed on the top of a substrate with given elements formed and a protective plate for protecting the given elements on the sealing substrate, with a number of grooves formed on the lower face of the protective plate.
