PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high gain microstrip antenna which is a simple structure and can obtain high gain. SOLUTION: The high gain microstrip antenna has a ground electric conduction board, a 1st dielectric layer arranged on the ground electric conduction board, a microstrip antenna element arranged on the 1st dielectric layer, and a 2nd dielectric layer arranged on the microstrip antenna element. Ifλ<SB>0</SB>is a free space wave length of the center frequency used, the 2nd dielectric layer has a cross section more than 0.5λ<SB>0</SB>×0.5λ<SB>0</SB>, and specific dielectric constant of the 2nd dielectric layer is smaller than specific dielectric constant of the 1st dielectric layer. Moreover, thickness of the 2nd dielectric layer is B<SB>top</SB>, its specific dielectric constant isε<SB>r.top</SB>, B<SB>top</SB>satisfies the formula: 0.75≤B<SB>top</SB>/B<SB>topmax</SB>≤1.25B<SB>topmax</SB>=λ<SB>0</SB>×1.6×(ε<SB>r.top</SB>-1)<SP>-1.25</SP>.
