PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine that can smoothly delivers a string-like member wound and mounted even if a bobbin is heavy. SOLUTION: The sewing machine has a bobbin around which a string member is wound and mounted is arranged above a needle bar, and a tensile force detection means for detecting the tensile force acting on the string member, and a driving means for rotationally driving the bobbin on the basis of the tensile force detected. Consequently the sewing machine detects the tensile force acting on the string member and rotationally drives the bobbin on the basis of the tensile force detected even when the string member is sewn. Namely, when the tensile force of the string member is strengthened with the sewing of the string member, the sewing machine delivers the string member, rotating the bobbin, and when the tensile force of the string member is weakened by the sufficient delivery of the string member, the sewing machine stops the rotation of the bobbin, stopping the delivery of the string member.
