<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a striking position detection method in which ink dots by main droplets and ink dots by satellite and mist can be appropriately discerned, and their striking positions can be correctly detected even when the main droplet and a part of the satellite or the like overlap to form one ink dot. <P>SOLUTION: The dot printed to a recording medium beforehand is imaged by a microscope and a CCD camera. The imaged image data is converted to binarized image data in accordance with a predetermined binarization threshold. Erosion processing of erasing the image by a constant width along an outline of the dot is carried out to the binarized image data of the dot by only a predetermined number of times such that dots of sub droplets disappear although dots of the main droplets remain. After the erosion processing, a center of gravity position of the remaining part is made the striking position of the dot. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
