PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of base stations required for implementation of position detection of a terminal. SOLUTION: At the base station apparatus for detecting the position of a terminal using radio signals, a base station comprises an antenna for transmitting and receiving a radio signal, a radio receiving unit for generating a received signal from the received radio signal, a signal processing unit for performing signal processing of the received signal and generation of a transmission signal, a radio transmitting unit for generating a radio signal from the transmission signal, a control unit for controlling operation of the base station apparatus, and a position detection signal processing unit for performing signal processing for position detection of the terminal. A distance at which a signal can be received with the radio receiving unit is longer than a distance at which a transmission signal can be reached with the radio transmitting unit.
