PURPOSE: A damping valve of a steering system is provided to intermit effectively the flow of hydraulic pressure by forming separately forward and reverse passages and to facilitate production and assembly processes by simple valve and passage structures. CONSTITUTION: A damping valve installed in a housing(200) between a hydraulic pipe and a cylinder connection part of a hydraulic steering system for a vehicle to intermit the flow of fluid is composed of a valve body(100) in which a pair of forward/reverse passages(110a,110b) is divided respectively; check valves installed at the forward/reverse passages to intermit the flow of fluid forward and reversely; and an orifice disposed in the reverse passage to intermit the amount and speed of the fluid. The check valve comprises first and second casings(120a,120b) mounted oppositely to each other in the center of each inner diameter of the forward/reverse passages; first and second discs(130a,130b) arranged in each inner diameter of the ends of the first and second casings; first and second valve plates(140a,140b) installed at the lower sides of the discs to open and close the forward/reverse passages; and first and second coil springs(150a,150b) for supporting elastically the first and second valve plates in the vertical direction.
