PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device which prolongs an ink life by preventing waste of ink of cartridges unrelated to an ink change. SOLUTION: In the printing device capable of carrying out the ink change, a first nozzle formation face 41a connected to partial cartridges 21-23 subjected to the ink change, and a second nozzle formation face 41b connected to the other cartridges 24-27 unrelated to the ink change are formed at a recording head 40. Moreover, the printing device has a first cap member 84a for sealing the first nozzle formation face 41a, a second cap member 84b for sealing the second nozzle formation face 41b, a first suction means 50a for carrying out suction to the first nozzle formation face 41a, a second suction means 50b for carrying out suction to the second nozzle formation face 41b, and a control means for controlling the operation of the first and second suction means 50a and 50b.
