PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable and effective energy absorption structure in a secondary collision of a steering column device having an aluminum die-cast housing-shaped upper clamp. SOLUTION: An end part 5b of a ripping plate 5 is locked to a front side of a vehicle body fitting part 3 of an upper clamp 1, and an end part 5a is attachably/detachably engaged with an opening part 4 in a rear side, and locked to a bolt passing through the opening part 4. A recessed groove 8 is formed in an inner surface of a cylindrical part 2 with an upper jacket tube 7 passing therethrough, and an adjuster screw 9 is provided facing the recessed groove 8.
