A radar device for measuring the relative distance to a target by processing the signal arriving from the target. Even if the band of the receiving system is narrower than the occupied band of the signal, the relative distance to the target in a wide range can be precisely determined. The signal, which is a response to the wave signal modulated with a first pulse, arriving from a target is demodulated, and a second pulse is generated. Two different time points at which the absolute value of the difference between a reference value which is the ratio between the two instantaneous values that the first pulse takes on at the time points separated by a predetermined interval on the time axis and the ratio between those that the second pulse takes on at the time points are specified. The relative distance to the target is evaluated as the difference between a reference time point on the time axis at which the wave signal is transmitted and one of the specified two different time points or a time point near the specified two different time points.
