PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape cassette capable of stably running a magnetic tape even if a tape reel is rotated in either rotation direction and normally reading and writing the record of the magnetic tape by a magnetic head. SOLUTION: This magnetic tape cassette 1 has a reel spring energizing a tape reel 11 through a reel holder 12 arranged on a pair of tape reel 1 in a a cassette case 3 of the magnetic tape cassette 1 housing and holding freely rotatably the pair of tape reel 11 on which the magnetic tape is wound. The reel spring is wave shape leaf spring type reel spring 14 having the same energizing force when a rotation direction of the tape reel 11 is switched. Since energizing force applied to the tape reel can be made the same independently of rotation direction, the running of the magnetic tape is prevented from becoming unstable, thus the magnetic head can normally read and write the record of the magnetic tape.
