PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for organic EL(electroluminescent) devices having high luminance and long luminescence life, and to provide the resultant organic EL device. SOLUTION: The organic EL device material is a polymer of the general formula[1]: (A)n( wherein, A is the bivalent organic residue of the compound of the general formula[2] described below; and n is an integer of≥2 ) having the bivalent organic residue of a compound of the general formula[2]( wherein, X is a direct bond, 1-10C alkyl, O, S or N; R1to R9are each H or a substituent, wherein at least one of them is a substituent containing a heteroaromatic condensed ring having one or more heteroatoms ).
