PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing front and rear ends of a coil are provided to prevent fault from being created at front and rear ends of the coil by calculating a moving distance using a detecting sensor and a control section. CONSTITUTION: A feeder(32) provided to convey a coil to be fed. A steel plate conveyed by the feeder(32) is blanked by means of a blanking press(34). A conveyer is provided to convey the blanked plate. A blank is loaded on a piler installed at a lower portion of the conveyer. A detecting sensor(36) is positioned between the feeder(32) and the blanking press(34). A control section(38) is connected to both detecting sensor(36) and the feeder(32). A rear end of the steel plate is detected by the detecting sensor(36). The control section(38) calculates remaining of coils when the rear end of the steel plate is detected by the detecting sensor(36).
