Coating polymeric material involves applying a non-continuous coating consisting of ultra high molecular weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) and/or very high molecular weight polyethylene (VHMWPE) on the polymeric material, and co-curing the polymeric material with the non-continuous coating. Independent claims are also included for: (1) coating on the polymeric material comprising UHMWPE and/or VHMWPE, in which the coating is non-continuous; (2) extruded profile (A) of a polymeric material having the coating non-continuously covering the profile; (3) method of manufacturing the extruded profile of polymeric material comprising extruding the profile, curing (37) the profile, and performing the above coating method; and (4) use of UHMWPE and/or VHMWPE as a non-continuous coating on the polymeric material for improving the properties of the polymeric material, e.g. coefficient of friction, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, oil resistance, ageing resistance, ozone resistance, surface temperature resistance, fatigue property at elevated temperature, absorption of water, low gas permeability, resistivity, adhesiveness in connection with gluing and lamination of the polymer, and/or cracking resistance. |
