摘要 PURPOSE: A transmitting and receiving apparatus for supporting transmission antenna diversity by a space-time block code is provided to obtain the maximum transmission rate and the maximum diversity gain in a communication system using 3 or more transmission antennas. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of transmission antennas(140a-140d) are composed for transmission diversity. A transmission encoding matrix generator has an encoder(120) and phase rotating units(130a,130b). The transmission encoding matrix generator composes a plurality of symbols as a plurality of combinations, and transmits the combinations to the transmission antennas(140a-140d) during a plurality of time intervals for transmitting a plurality of the symbols in each antenna and each time interval. The transmission encoding matrix generator applies inversion and conjugate to a plurality of the symbols, rotates phases of the symbols by a certain phase value, and composes a transmission encoding matrix so that at least two columns of the transmission encoding matrix are mutually orthogonal and a diversity gain is maximized.
