PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display system including an optical writing sheet to which image data can be written simultaneously at low temperature without requiring a photosensitive layer. SOLUTION: The display system is provided with a display and a writing device. The display has a substrate, a first transparent conductor on a substrate, a cholesteric liquid crystal layer having a plurality of stable optical states at a plurality of ambient temperatures and a second conductor for absorbing light on the cholesteric liquid crystal layer. The writing device has a flash light source, a mask for forming light patterns relating to images by using the light from the flash light source, a means for applying electric fields to the first and second conductors, a display driving device which is provided with electrical contacts for applying the electric fields to the first and second conductors and a controller which is connected to the flash light source and the display driving device, drives the flash light source and controls the intensity of the electric fields.
