PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated optical fiber with a discrimination layer having more discriminating functions, to prevent the discrimination layer from easily disappearing or being peeled, further to prevent the discrimination layer from causing the transmission loss of the coated optical fiber, and to improve the discriminability of the coated optical fiber at the terminal of an optical fiber cable when obtaining the optical fiber cable by using the coated optical fiber. SOLUTION: The problem is solved by obtaining the discriminable coated optical fiber which is the coated optical fiber obtained by sequentially providing the discriminable layer consisting of an ink layer on an optical fiber and a coloring layer on the discrimination layer, and where the discrimination layer is intermittently formed in the longitudinal direction of the coated optical fiber as the ink layer whose thickness is≥0.5μm and≤1/4 of the maximum thickness of the coloring layer, and further the coloring layer whose thickness is≤10μm is formed on the discrimination layer.
