PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital signal recording device for performing recording by which a excellently reproduced signal is obtained with comparatively simple constitution without performing low frequency band compensation when a digital signal is recorded in a magnetic tape through a rotary transformer. SOLUTION: Pre-code is performed so that partial response detection can be performed at the time of reproduction for a digital signal being a NRZL signal, and the pre-coded NRZL signal is converted to a RZL signal. And the RZL signal is supplied to a head 15 through the rotary transformer 14, and it is recorded in a magnetic tape. At that time, a recording current value of the RZL signal supplied to the magnetic head 15 is set to almost the same reproduction characteristics when recording and reproducing are performed with the NRZL signal.
