PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a body structure of a railway vehicle as can effectively reduce noise transmission from the exterior to interior of the vehicle. SOLUTION: It is possible to greatly reduce noise that passes through structural members 6 of the body from the exterior of a body 1 to its interior, by attaching a long, integral structural member 6 to the longitudinal side of the car body, which is formed through extrusion molding of mutually parallel plates 6a and 6b, as well as rib units 6c, which are in a truss formation between the two plates, in such a manner that the ratio, derived by dividing the characteristic frequency of one plate by that of the other panel, is 1.3 or more.
