PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire-retardant biodegradable resin composition and a fire-retardant biodegradable composite material of which the biodegradable resin component is decomposed by the action of bacteria or the like when buried in the soil or compost after use leaving chemical substances effectively used as a fertilizer for crops, horticulture, vegetation and the like by imparting fire-retardance to a biodegradable resin. SOLUTION: The fire-retardant biodegradable resin composition is a biodegradable resin containing at least one kind of chemical substance selected from urea, ammonium phosphate, ammonium polyphosphate and a guanidine compound. Preferably, the biodegradable resin is a polylactic acid resin. The fire-retardant biodegradable composite material is a composite of the fire-retardant biodegradable resin composition and a biodegradable sheet material. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
