The packaging block (1) is molded. It is transferred to a second, similar molding machine. In this, the main mold facing the part of the block to which protection is to be applied (also the zone of application), has an assembly of strips or hot wires defining a closed curve, which is especially polygonal. This projects from the mold surface. A protective blank of synthetic material is placed between the main mold and the zone of application. The mold is closed. The main mold deep-draws the blank and flattens it out against the zone of application. It is bonded to the block along lines of fusion. The mold is opened, the covered block is extracted, and edges of the blank are removed. The protective blank comprises a layer of synthetic fibers. The blades or hot wires are several and independent, or only a single unit which is folded back on itself at corners to form loops, all in a closed curve.
