PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a boron compound enabling a steady supply and the stable operation of a supply device without using it in a liquid state on using it as an olefin polymerization catalyst, or the like, and to provide a method for producing the boron compound. SOLUTION: The method for producing the fine particle-shaped boron compound comprises dissolving≥1 kind selected from the compounds expressed by following formulae (1)-(3) into an aromatic hydrocarbon-based solvent and then precipitating the compound in an aliphatic hydrocarbon-based solvent, and the method for producing the fine particle-shaped boron compound includes crushing of the boron compound selected from the compounds expressed by the formulae (1)-(3) so as to become≤50μm largest particle diameter. (1) BQ<SP>1</SP>Q<SP>2</SP>Q<SP>3</SP>, (2) G<SP>+</SP>(BQ<SP>1</SP>Q<SP>2</SP>Q<SP>3</SP>Q<SP>4</SP>)<SP>-</SP>, (3) (L-H)<SP>+</SP>(BQ<SP>1</SP>Q<SP>2</SP>Q<SP>3</SP>Q<SP>4</SP>)<SP>-</SP>[wherein, B is trivalent boron atom; Q<SP>1</SP>to Q<SP>4</SP>are each a halogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, a halogenated hydrocarbon group, a substituted silyl group, an alkoxy or a di- substituted amino group; G<SP>+</SP>is an inorganic or organic cation; L is a neutral Lewis base; and (L-H)<SP>+</SP>is a Brϕnstead acid].
