<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make realizable a processor in which the operation of an AGC (automatic gain control) is stable and which is capable of obtaining a satisfactory data transmission characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: In this signal processor, in a step S1, whether an area is the area of the preamble-pattern of an analog data signal or not is judged and when the area of the analog signal is the area of the preamble-pattern, in a step S2, the gain of a second AGC part is relatively increased in a state where the operation of an equalization filter is stopped so that amplitude errors are converged quickly. In a step S3, whether the area is the area of a random data signal or not is judged and when the area is the area of the random data signal, in a step S4, after the loop gain of the second AGC part is changed to a zero value (or a small value near the zero), the operation of the adaptive equalization filter is started.
