PURPOSE:To obtain a branched uncured polyarylene thioether with improved mechanical characteristics without detriment to flash characteristics, melt stability, and color matching properties by selecting a polyarylene thioether with specified physical properties. CONSTITUTION:A polyarylene thioether is selected which mainly comprises repeating units represented by the formula and has a Hunter whiteness of 20% or higher, a wt. average mol.wt. of 200,000=1,000,000, a melt viscosity eta*1000 of 20-500Pa.s, and a shear rate dependence of melt viscosity eta*100/eta*1000 of 1.8-4.0. The melt viscosity eta*1000 is a melt viscosity obtd. at 316 deg.C at a shear rate of 1,000sec<-1> using Capirograph equipped with a nozzle with an inside diameter of 0.50mm and a length of 5.00mm. The shear rate dependence is the ratio of a melt viscosity at 316 deg.C at a shear rate of 100sec<-1> measured with the Capirograph to that at 316 deg.C at a shear rate of 1,00sec<-1>. The polymer is produced without using an auxiliary such as lithium chloride or benzoate. |
