A novel cleaning agent, which comprises one or more materials selected from among TiOx (1.5 < x < 2), TiOxN2−x (1 < x < 2), a diamond−like carbon and a titania−silica composite TiOx− SiO2 (1.5 < x ≤ 2); a method for cleaning an article comprising using the cleaning agent; an antibacterial material comprising the above material and an antibacterial or environment clarifying product using the material; a novel functional adsorbent comprising the above material and a method for producing the adsorbent.
