摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader provided with a white roller the part of an outer circumferential face of which is used for a white shading read face that can obtain stable white shading data. SOLUTION: The operating flowchart of the image reader includes steps S3 to S5 of reading an object area with a prescribed width on an outer circumferential face of a white roller to generate white shading data, a step S8 of comparing the read data with reference data so as to determine whether or not a degree of dirt of the object area can be permitted, and a step S9 of setting the object area to be a white shading read face when the object area does not particularly get dirt and is determined permissible and storing the position of the setting white shading read face to a storage means. The image reader reads the white shading read face stored in the storage means to generate proper white shading data in reading the original.
