The invention relates to a can with a body (1) having any configuration and made from suitably treated sheet metal. The inventive closure means comprises a lid (4) in the form of a stratified sheet comprising an outer aluminium layer and an inner plastic layer. Said sheet is fixed to the mouth of the body (1) using heat welding, adhesive or any other means. A tab (5) projects out from said sheet and acts as a handle. The stratified sheet (4) that constitutes the actual lid can be fixed directly to the mouth of the body (1), which is suitably configured for this purpose, or it can be supported by a peripheral frame (2), which is also made from sheet metal and which is fitted with an internal peripheral flange (3) to which the stratified sheet (4) is fixed. The lid assembly (2-4) is fixed to the body (1) of the container using the standard beading system.
