PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose ester film excellent in optical isotropy, particularly in optical isotropy in the direction of film thickness, a method of manufacturing the same, a polarizing plate for a display device, and a display device. SOLUTION: There is provided a cellulose ester film which has a plane orientation degree S, represented by the following formula (I) S=(Nx+Ny)/2-Nz, of 0.0004 or less wherein Nx is a refractive index in the lag phase axis direction in the film plane; Ny is a refractive index in the film plane in the direction perpendicular to the lag phase axis direction, and Nz is a refractive index in the thickness direction of the film. |
