PURPOSE: A cathode ray tube and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to use a stem compatibly with differing diameters for a neck, facilitate work and enhance productivity. CONSTITUTION: A cathode ray tube comprises a neck including an electron gun accepting part(40) and a sealing part(41), and a stem(30). The stem(30) includes many inner stem pins(33a) and many outer stem pins(33b). The inner diameter of the sealing part(41) is larger than that of the electron gun accepting part(40). A diameter(Φ1) of an inner stem pin circle arranged by inner stem pins(33a) is smaller than that(Φ2) of an outer stem pin circle arranged by outer stem pins(33b). The stem(30) is sealed with the sealing part(41) such that a horizontal distance(d) from the middle(h2) of the height of the stem mound(34) to the inner surface(41a) of the sealing part(41) is equal or more than 1.0mm and equal or less than 2.0mm.
