Method in which the complex impedance of tissue in the high frequency region is measured local to the tip of an open coaxial probe, while a reference probe is brought into contact with a reference dielectric. The two probes form two arms of a bridge circuit. Probe voltage outputs are measured in the time domain, stored in a computer and converted, using a Fourier transform, into the frequency domain. The quotient of the complex amplitudes of bridge and supply voltages are displayed on a monitor or a neural network for diagnostic comparison with earlier data. The invention also relates to a corresponding arrangement for executing the method.
