PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel in which a variation in the air spaces of a pair of sublens groups which function optically in an approach position and a distancing position, respectively is eliminated with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The lens barrel is provided with the pair of sublens groups which function optically in the approach position and the distancing position, respectively, a front lens group frame which supports a front sublens group located in the object side among the pair of sublens groups, a rear lens group frame to support a rear sublens which has a fitting relation enabling relative movement to the front lens group frame and in an optical axis direction, and which is located in the image surface side among the pair of sublens groups, a lens frame moving mechanism which relatively moves the front lens group frame and the rear lens group frame to obtain the approach position and distancing position of the pair of sublens groups, a first lens positional reference surface which is formed on the front lens group frame itself and which contacts with part of the rear surface to determine the position of the optical axis direction of the front sublens group when the front sublens group is inserted from the front, and a second lens positional reference surface which is formed on the rear lens group frame itself and which contacts with part of the front surface to determine the position of the optical axis direction of the rear sublens group when the rear sublens group is inserted from the rear.
