PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for the oral cavity excellent in a chemical cleaning effect on soil such as stain, plaque, tar of cigarette, fur, etc., on the tooth surface and the lingual surface, capable of cleaning parts which a toothbrush does not reach, consequently promising to have a highly bleaching effect on the tooth surface and a cleaning on the lingual surface. SOLUTION: This composition for the oral cavity is obtained by formulating a composition for the oral cavity containing phenoxyethanol, phenoxypropanol and/or phenoxyisopropanol as a chemically cleaning agent for the tooth surface and the lingual surface with (A) a surfactant and (B) a propionic acid alkyl ester, a butyric acid alkyl ester and/or a valeric acid alkyl ester having >=5 total carbon atoms.
