An information dissemination system operating primarily via the wireless Internet and mobile phones. Rating means (31) determine, for each user submitting messages, a rating dependent on the quality (subjective, ie feedback from other users, and/or objective) of those messages. A user can register an interest in a subject, and then receive alert signals relating to new messages relating to that subject, and then communicate directly with other users. The system also determines user profiles and matches users with similar profiles.
