PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe, sanitary and inexpensive freshness retaining agent for cut flower having high service life prolongation effects on cut flowers. SOLUTION: This freshness retaining agent for cut flower is characterized by including a water-soluble salt of N-acylamino acid and a chlorinated isocyanuric acid compound as sterilizing ingredients and the method for retaining the freshness of the cut flower comprises using the freshness retaining agent.
