PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high temperature sodium secondary cell with highly reliable joining part, suitable to use for an electric power preservation device, an electric vehicle, or the like. SOLUTION: The high temperature sodium secondary cell comprises a metallic anode container containing liquid sodium which constitutes an anode chamber, a metallic cathode container containing cathode activator which constitutes a cathode chamber, a solid electrolyte separating the anode chamber and the cathode chamber, and a ceramic insulator joined to the solid electrolyte. The solid electrolyte and the ceramic insulator are joined each other through more than two sheets of metal plates, and the ceramic insulator, the anode container, and the cathode container are joined directly or through the metal plate.
