PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart excellent shape stability to a cellulosic fiber without using resins and harmful chemicals. SOLUTION: This method of shape-stabilizing processing for cellulosic fiber comprises carrying out a steam treatment of the cellulosic fiber at a high temperature under a high pressure and then carrying out a liquid ammonia treatment. Besides, the method of shape-stabilizing processing for cellulosic fiber comprises carrying out a hot water treatment of the cellulosic fiber and then carrying out a liquid ammonia treatment.
