PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for reducing the distortion of an input current near the zero crossing point of an input signal. SOLUTION: The power factor correcting electric converter comprises an input tracing circuit 150 connected to a power source, a rectifier 12 connected to the power source, and a filtering circuit 2 connected to the rectifier. In this case, an input detector 26 is connected to the circuit 150, and its output circuit is connected to the circuit 22. A feedback circuit 52 is connected to an input detecting node 32 and an output detecting node 50 to receive an input designation signal and an output designation signal and to generate a gating signal. The output circuit responds to the gating signal to control to switch the connection to a load. The input detector or the feedback circuit may be constituted to delay to differentiate the phases of the input designation signal and the input signal. |
