PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a marking on a work A in a stable state by using a plasma cutting torch where a moving plasma is employed. SOLUTION: Markings 1 to 3 are electively formed by ejecting a pilot arc 21 formed by discharge between an electrode 11 and a nozzle 12 and a main arc 22 formed by discharge between the electrode 11 and a work A from an ejecting port 12a onto the work A. A marking 1 or 2 with varying line thickness is formed by increasing or decreasing one or both of the pilot electric current which forms the pilot arc or the main electric current which forms the main arc, and a marking 3 composed of dots is formed by intermittently supplying one of the electric currents.
