1277538 Axle arrangement for a machine tool A MONFORTS 21 Dec 1970 [20 Dec 1969] 60628/70 Heading B3B [Also in Division F2] Anaxlearrangementin a machine toolin which the axle 1 sags under the weight of structural members 4 fitted thereon, wherein the axle is rotatable as well as longitudinally displaceable in a bearing 2, wherein a bearing surface 5 in the axle is formed so as to be of greater diameter than the rest of the axle and wherein the length of the bearing surface is shorter than the bearing by substantially the length of the stroke of longitudinal displacement. Thus the length L is constant as is the deflection of the axle caused by members 4 and this constant deflection can be accounted for during machining. Two or more such arrangements may be utilized together. A typical use of an arrangement is as the shaft for a rotary tool turret of a rotary turret machine. |
