PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily and surely make chips of wood into charcoal in a method and an apparatus for producing the charcoal from the chips of wood. SOLUTION: This method for producing charcoal is characterized in that the chips of wood supplied from an inlet side of a pipeline to the pipeline are continuously passed in the pipeline through a transportation gas supplied from the inlet side of the pipeline to the pipeline, the pipeline is heated at the upstream part of the pipeline, the chips of wood passing in the pipeline are spontaneously ignited, the pipeline is cooled at the downstream part of the pipeline, the chips of wood spontaneously ignited passing in the pipeline are cooled and carbonized and the carbonized chips of wood are discharged from an outlet side of the pipeline. |
