PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily put washing inside a washing machine through a inlet on the upper face of the washing machine, to simplify a structure, and to prevent hitting noise in folding an upper lid by means of a stopper. SOLUTION: In this washing machine 1, a front side edge part 32 of an inlet 6 in an upper face plate 11 of a housing 2 is formed into a circular arc shape, and a first wall face 35 tilting downward toward the inside of a washing tub 3 is arranged. As the inlet 6 is formed into a circular arc and tilted downward, it looks wide and facilitates insertion of washing. A storage chamber 42 in front of the inlet 6 is formed into a shape extending backward on the left and right sides of the inlet 6, and a two-piece electric circuit baseboard is housed inside the storage chamber 42. The storage chamber 42 extending backward can secure a sufficient space for housing electric parts while the split type baseboard can be manufactured easily. Projections 51, 52 colliding against a front lid 26 are arranged on the upper face plate 11 for preventing erroneous operation of a detection switch 13 when a center-foldable type upper lid 7 is closed halfway, while a stopper 29 limiting a folding angle between the front lid 26 and a rear lid 25 is provided in the upper lid 7.
