PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyolefin fiber that shows excellent processability in a variety of nonwoven fabric processing, particularly in the water-using processing for nonwoven fabric, for example, the high-pressure water-flow entangling process or the wet type paper-making process, and particularly has excellent durability of the hydrophilicity and provide the nonwoven fabric using the polyolefin fiber. SOLUTION: The filaments formed by the melt-extrusion of a polyolefin resin are drawn in hot water, humid heat, or dry heat at a prescribed draw ratio to obtain a drawn yarn bundle. As the resultant drain yarn bundle is allowed to run at a rage of >=10 m/min, the yarn is treated with at least one process, selected from the corona discharge treatment, the atmospheric plasma treatment and the treatment with an ozone aqueous solution under 1.0-1.2 time tension on both faces of the drawn yarn bundle, then the treated yarn bundle is treated with the fiber-treating agent on the fiber surface to give the objective hydrophilic polyolefin fiber in which the element amount ratio of the oxygen to the carbon satisfies a prescribed range on the filament surface. |
