PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial agent using a fir essential oil afforded from Abies firm a plant as a kind of natural plant, as an alternative to conventional antimicrobial agents/germicides for which such problems as skin irritancy and uncomfortable feeling have been indicated. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial agent contains, as individual active ingredient(s),α-pinene,β-pinene,α-terpinene, citral and/or bornyl acetate, the compositional ingredients of fir essential oil afforded from Abies firma plant or hinoki essential oil afforded from Chamaecyparis obtusa plant, and is intended for dealing with Streptococcus mutans, Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton meta grophytes, and Propionibacterium acnes.
