PURPOSE: A cathode-ray tube having multi-functional frame/mask support tool is provided to reduce the weight of a frame structure holding a mask under tension and decrease the number of metal pieces of frame structure by using a reinforcement part which functions also as a support means for a frame/mask system. CONSTITUTION: The cathode-ray tube includes a color selecting frame/mask assembly, wherein the mask(8) is welded to the end(20) of a longer edge member(9) of a frame(19) and held in a tensed condition, and the frame/mask assembly is suspended inside a tube with a support tool(10), which increases the mechanical rigidity of the edge members, whereto they are welded, and it is practicable for the longer edge members of the frame to approach each other in the process the tube is being manufactured at a high temperature.
