PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a server to transmit information to a portable telephone having provision for the WAP through the Internet. SOLUTION: A database of a DB server 10 stores a cross-reference between a portable terminal ID and its possessor and a cross-reference between the possessor and other information. Upon the receipt of information to be informed, the mobile terminal ID to which the information is to be notified is retrieved. The information to be notified is displayed on a page with a specific URL of a WEB server 20. The WEB server 20 transmits an alert notice including a URL to a mobile terminal of a retrieved ID via a WAP gateway server 30 and the mobile terminal 40 displays the alert. When a message acquisition request button is depressed in the portable terminal 40, a download request text including a URL is transmitted to the WEB server 20 via the WAP gateway server 30 and the WEB server 20 downloads contents of a page of a corresponding URL to the mobile terminal 40 via the WAP gateway server 30 and the mobile terminal 40 displays the contents.
